I read something recently that said kids grow more in the spring. Do you believe it? In our house, it’s certainly true. I don’t know about you guys, but for our family, spring means ACTIVE, growing and hungry (all the time!) kids. In preparation for summer, I’ve been trying to mentally compile a list of a few core nutrient dense foods I want to always have on hand. I’m thinking easy options that can be tossed into a bag for the beach, made independently by my oldest two or whipped up in just a moment. These kids need fat, protein, vitamins and lots and lots of sleep, for their growing bodies and for our sanity as well!
Today I thought I’d share with you guys a simple smoothie recipe, that honest to goodness, is one of our most popular after school snacks. Basically, it tastes like a delicious milkshake so, if you have kiddo who’s smoothie resistant, try this one before you completely give up. As you can see, the ingredients are something to feel really good about. Every time we make a smoothie, I add in a few scoops.So, let’s talk about the smoothie our kids are currently loving. We have this after school before baseball games on a regular basis.
In a blender mix together:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 4 scoops KidzShake
- 2 bananas
Ice, yogurt, chia seeds or other add-ins can be dumped in as well, depending on what you enjoy!
