A Great Activity for the Whole Family: Seattle Farm School’s Urban Farm Tour 10

Have you always wanted to grow veggies at home, or add a fruit tree to your property? Now is your chance to get inspired! Seattle Farm School is hosting their 2nd annual Urban Farm Tour on August 12. The best part? Kids are free!

Your tickets to the Urban Farm Tour grant you exclusive access to step behind-the-scenes of 15 of the best urban farms in West Seattle, White Center, and Burien. It’s amazing what people are doing with their city lots.

Check out raised beds full of veggies, a super productive (and beautiful!) front yard garden, and containers with kid-friendly crops. Explore the dinosaur plant play area at one tour stop, and learn about honey bees at another. And don’t miss the awesome egg-laying chickens that are residents at several of the tour locations.

There’s one extra side benefit to bringing your kids on the Urban Farm Tour. They just might start eating more veggies! Studies show that kids who learn how food is grown, and even better – are involved in the process!, eat an average of one more serving of vegetables per day.

So join Seattle Farm School for the tour on August 12 and bring some of the urban farm inspiration home with you!

For tickets, head over to Seattle Farm School’s site. Prior to the tour date, you will receive a brochure with locations and detailed descriptions of each site, so you can choose your own urban farm adventure.

We also have a special treat for you! We are partnering with Seattle Farm School to give away 2 adult tickets and accompanying child tickets. Enter to win! a Rafflecopter giveaway

This sounds like so much fun! My husband and I want to start our farm on the land we have and this looks so inspirational for us and our kiddos!

This is such an incredible idea! Not only would I love to personally see other urban gardens, but to share that with my kids would be so amazing!

I am looking forward to going on this Urban Farm tour; it’s right in my area. My husband and older son are camping that weekend, so this is a perfect activity for me and my younger son.

It’s on our calendar! We’ve been starting up our garden (with two raised beds built and a worm bin!), and we’re hoping to expand to chickens, but we don’t even know where to start. We’re hoping to get some ideas from the tour.

This sounds great! I’m always curious what others are growing and how. And the bees… Great addition!

I’d love to see chickens, Mason bees, small vegetable garden spaces with raised beds and kid friendly areas!

I want to learn more about bees! Also get my toddler a bit more interested in eating veggies (wishful thinking, I know)

I am interested in the honey bees, mostly because I see more and more people recognizing their benefit 🙂 This looks so neat. And fresh eggs are the best!!
